Karas is a newly wine producer in the Armavir region. Located in the Ararat valley, between the Aragats and Ararat mountains, Armavir is the smallest but most densely populated region in Amenia. The ideal location and unique climate have made this region the epicenter of agricultural development. Armavir also has a rich historical and cultural heritage, each year attracting thousands of tourists visiting admirable places: the monument to the Battle of Sardarapat, the religious center of the Armenian Apostolic Church – the holy city of Etchmiadzin. In 2003, this ambitious project was launched in these arid lands devoid of any irrigation system. The land was cleaned of numerous large stones and an irrigation system installed. In 2010, the first production of Karas wine will celebrate the renewal of quality wine production in Armenia.
